The Royal Mint

Supporting a unique employer with wellbeing and communications

With a history spanning more than 1,100 years, The Royal Mint is a British maker of thoughtfully designed products and services as well as being the world’s leading export mint. They make original coin collections and gifts to celebrate special moments, and offer eye-opening experiences, investment opportunities and currency solutions.

Opportunity

The Royal Mint is based in Llantrisant, just north of Cardiff, and employs more than 900 people across a wide range of roles. The variety of skills, trades and craftmanship makes their organisation truly unique and they are always looking to offer the best range of benefits to continue to attract and retain their incredible talent.

The Royal Mint introduced Hapi following a direct request from their Employee Engagement Survey in 2020 to provide further wellbeing support and assistance following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Solution

Hapi gives employees at The Royal Mint not only employee wellbeing support - access to counselling and 24/7 EAP support from employees’ own devices - but also serves as a ‘one stop shop’ for all their employee benefits

It’s quick and simple for employees to take advantage of salary sacrifice schemes to help make everyday life more affordable, like cycle to work and car leasing. A really popular benefit is the tech benefits scheme from Let’s Connect, which enables employees to spread the cost of the latest tech including computers, phones, home entertainment, and fitness wearables.

Employees can make their pay go further with a vast range of high street and online retail employee discounts, as well as money off gym memberships at thousands of gyms across the UK. Everybody likes to save money, and employees have particularly welcomed these financial perks.

The Royal Mint now uploads and releases internal employee communications to every employee via Hapi’s smartphone app. This ensures everyone is kept informed, even those who don’t have day to day access to emails at work.

In addition, the ability to send push notifications encourages regular logins, and can also be used as a quick emergency comms to staff if required in the future.

Outcome

The Royal Mint are really pleased with Hapi and how it helps them recruit and retain the best talent in their industry.

Kim Brown, Internal Communications Manager, commented:

“We’re only at the start of our journey with Hapi, but we’re delighted with the results so far. Going forward, we plan to add more health and wellbeing resources as part of a compelling reward package that helps our employees succeed at work and at life.”
